Since 2018, the Epic Games Store has regularly offered free game downloads. Anyone who creates an account on the store has a small window of time to claim the giveaway(s) and add it to their library. After that, the game can be played indefinitely. Every week on Thursday, at least one new free game will be released on the Epic Games Store.
